Mid-Somerset Festival Blues Jam 2012

Are you in a band? Do you play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards? Maybe you are the singer in your band or a lone singer songwriter? Perhaps you are proud of your recent Rockschool grade performance piece? If so, regardless of your ability, this morning is for you.
Blues Jam Workshop Information
The Workshop
The morning will begin with a one-hour blues jam workshop that is suitable for all players. The workshop is designed to give everyone the fantastic opportunity to warm up and take part in a collective blues jam. The workshop will be run by Richard Perkins of Bath Guitar School and will have an emphasis on having fun!
Please let us know if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced level player. Everyone taking part will receive a Blues Jam Pack with transcriptions and chord sheets suitable for their level in advance.
If you are a beginner (6 months+) you will be expected to play the following:
Twelve bar blues riff and minor pentatonic scale licks
If you are an intermediate (2 years+) player you will be expected to play the following:
Dominant 7 barre chords, blues turnarounds, minor blues scale licks
If you are an advanced (3/4 years+) player you will be expected to play the following:
Dominant 7, 9 and 13 chords, extensive blues soloing skills and rhythm playing
The Four Classes
You will have the unique opportunity to have written assessment and guidance from Max Weedon, head of music at the City of Bath College.
Class X18 Blues Jam Workshop Solo
For solo instrumentalists, all levels.
Own choice of piece. CD backing tracks welcome, no need to bring your own CD player.
Time limit: 6 mins
Class X19 Blues Jam Workshop Band
For Rock Bands, all levels.
Own choice of piece
Time limit: 6 mins
NEW CLASSES FOR 2011!
Class X20 Acoustic Guitar Solo
For solo instrumentalists, all levels and styles welcome.
Own choice of piece - cover material or original song.
Time limit: 6 mins
Class X21 Songwriter
Music and lyrics must be orginal.
This class will be adjudicated on content and performance equally.
Time limit: 8 mins

Fees: £15 entry fee for both the Blues Jam workshop and classes X18, X19, X20, or X21.
Workshop only: £10 - Class X18, X20, X21 only, £7 - Class X19 only, £5 per performer.
